SNAP (Screen Northants Alternative Provision) is a unique alternative provision offering an experience beyond a traditional school setting. Based at the Screen Northants studio in the heart of Northampton, SNAP provides young people with the opportunity to gain vocational training with an award-winning film production company, develop transferable life skills, and work towards a Level 1 qualification through working on a professional feature film production.

What is SNAP?
SNAP (Screen Northants Alternative Provision) is a unique alternative education provision based at the Screen Northants studio in Northampton, giving young people an experience beyond a traditional school setting.
Who is SNAP for?
The programme is designed to engage young people who may struggle within a traditional classroom environment and provides a hands-on, purposeful and creative approach to learning. The three-day programme can support young people who are disengaged from mainstream education, need a different learning environment or would benefit from developing confidence, practical skills and positive relationships.
SNAP has experience working with neurodiverse young people and those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). We understand that traditional classroom environments do not work for every learner and that young people may need a more flexible, practical and individualised approach.
Our staff focus on building positive relationships, understanding individual strengths and needs, and creating an environment where young people feel safe, valued and able to succeed. The practical and creative nature of the film programme allows learners to develop their confidence, communication, teamwork and independence while working towards a recognised qualification.
What do young people do at SNAP?
SNAP are an AIM Registered Centre so alongside the practical film-making experience, they will gain a level 1 qualification in “Working in Creative and Design Industries”, providing them with a recognised achievement and a foundation for further education, training or employment.
They will have the opportunity to discover their strengths through different areas of production, whether that is behind the camera, editing, sound, make-up, costume or production.
What are the intended outcomes from attending SNAP?
The aim is for young people to leave SNAP with increased confidence, a recognised qualification, practical skills and a clear pathway into their next educational setting.
We believe that learning through a real project gives young people a genuine sense of purpose and achievement, while developing skills that can be transferred into education, employment and everyday life.
